Penny Auction Strategies For Winning

by admin on February 5, 2011

Penny Auctions Online polled successful and unsuccessful bidders. Then recently we went out on a limb and actually asked for a candid interview with a successful bidder. His name is Don Rivenberg from New York.

PennyAuctionsOnline.com: Where were you when you heard about Penny Auctions? (No we don’t mean in the sense “where were you” like “where were you when the twin towers were hit…but more like “where were you in your life experience?!)

Don:
I actually never really heard about penny sites from friends or anything…but you better believe my friends have heard or rather “seen” penny auctions’ fruits with me. I saw a lot of banners for them but just figured they were gimmicks. Naturally I had a few bruises from my first bids because I learned about a couple scam sites (one of them first hand.) and was absolutely dumbfounded to discover that I actually won an item! And the total cost to me was well below 27% of the total retail. Wow. That was a rush. Next I had to get bid packs on 3 other sites to make sure it wasn’t the same gig where the house let’s you win once to keep you coming back for more! I’m sort of a Maven (if you’ve read the book the tipping point you’ll know what I mean.) And for that reason I like to share information with others about my experiences. I did discover a number of scam sites but I did notice that none of those sites were on your top 10 list on pennyauctionsonline.com so I was happy. And I also noticed that my 6 sites that I bid and win on regularly are all in your top 10.

PennyAuctionsOnline.com: What part does luck play in bidding?

Don:
There isn’t just one thing that helps you win at auctions, but it is definitely a strategy game. So many new bidders pussy foot around. They don’t take the time to buy bid packs on 3 or more sites (I did it with 10 sites initially and that’s one of the reasons I was successful, but I have many friends who have taken the time to pick a strategy by using 3 different sites. I noticed as I scanned the list on your main page that I recommend all of your top 5 on pennyauctionsonline.com as ones I bid on regularly, and down toward the bottom you guys also recommended Beezid which I really like also. I know there are people who bid like freaking crazy but I don’t take that approach.

PennyAuctionsOnline.com: Are you a penny auction advocate?

Don:
If you’re weak-hearted. I recommend starting with only 2 sites with bid packs. But if you want to quickly jump into this, pick 5-10 of the penny auctions on PAO and get bidding. That is almost word for word what I tell my friends. I don’t recommend to everyone like not to my g’ma because she is not experienced enough and she would only waste her month. But I do tell people who are reasonable, have a credit card and don’t mind using it online, and who love the thrill of winning and getting things cheaply to bid on these sites. For example, I have a friend who’s a buyer not a shopper. For her, it’s not the right thing, but I’ve got a buddy who loves to shop out good deals and I tell him to get on in the fun.

I don’t just let them bid, I share my experiences. And I would hate for someone to get in thinking they could just pick 1 site, bid, then forget and win! You’ve gotta be in it to win it. Just don’t let yourself get taken by the fraud sites. Pick winners. Pick reputable companies. Pick the types that are on the top 10 list. Yeah, you might be exuberant but remember that you’re not going to win every Xbox on the site for $0.97. And yeah even if each of the penny bids costs $.25 you would get away with it for $25 about and that’s even only if you bid the whole time and no one else. This just isn’t the scenario that happens all the time. Yes it will happen sometimes, but more rarely.

It’s much more likely that you’ll win it for $11. And yes, even if each penny bid costs $1 and you only have to bid $4 worth (for a total price to you of $51 dollars because $11 Plus $40 for the bids equals 51) it’s a great deal. This is more likely the scenario for the wise bidder.

PennyAuctionsOnline.com: Which penny sites have won your “bidding heart and excitement?”

Don: Swoopo won my heart over time. But I also love BidhereBidrodeoBidcactusWavee andBeezid. Each of these have good ability to take care of you the bidder! They get you great products but they don’t get greedy in the process. Several of these companies are audited by public accounting firms and none of them will swindle you. They constantly get feedback and are improving and providing the items you want.

PennyAuctionsOnline.com: What else would you say in closing?

Don:
Don’t get taken! Don’t get on the fraud sites. If it’s too good to be true and can’t be backed up, then it is probably a lie. Don’t go bidding over your limits. Don’t get overheated or you’ll throw a rod and not be able to keep bidding. Watch for good deals, free bids, etc. They will take care of you but you’ve got to be proactive. I noticed that even on this site there are promotions and special deals if you go through their links to get the preferential deals and extra bids at the beginning.

PennyAuctionsOnline.com: Thanks for sitting down with us on this phone call, Don!

Don: pleasure was all mine!

PennyAuctionsOnline.com: Happy bidding!

Don: Likewise, keep your chin up!
